The US Civil War
I'd forgotten about this question, until I found people Buzzing on it. The guy is General Thomas Sumter, US Revolutionary War hero, after whom, Fort Sumter is named. The building is the Appomattox Court House, in Appomattox, VA. The Battle of Fort Sumter was the first battle of the US Civil War, while the Battle of Appomattox Court House was the last. Not cracked by anyone (again?).
